まだ朝の早い時間の新鮮なそよ風が、マグノリア（木蓮）の甘い香りを含んで、私がいつも朝のコーヒーを飲むテラスに漂います。マグノリア（木蓮）の香りは、美しい鳥の鳴き声、蚊の音が聞こえてくる温かい春の丘陵地に咲くスウェーデンリリーを思い起こさせます。



マグノリア（木蓮）の香りは花やみずみずしさ、青い香りを帯びたレモン様の香りです。種類は200以上もあり、主にアジアとアメリカに分散しました。もともとマグノリア種は木材として育てられ、フランスの植物学者ピエール・マグノールに名前が由来しています。最古の花のひとつで、恐竜はマグノリアの花が咲くのを見たのでしょう。

マグノリア（木蓮）は中国や日本の文化で特徴的な花で、何世紀も植えられています。花はインドではもともとお寺で敬意を表すために使われ、日常的には香り高い髪飾りとして使われています。水を満たした鉢に浮かべて、部屋を香らせる装飾品として使われたりします。
